NEW CAERPHILLY SCHOOL OPENS

Ysgol Bro Sannan is Caerphilly County Borough's new Welsh medium primary school, established in response to the growing demand for provision in the middle of the Rumney Valley. The school was open in September 2004 for Early Years and pupils in Keystage 1 and from from 2005 on will provide for pupils in Keystage 2. The former Aberbargoed school buildings have been completely renovated and the school now benefits from a superb new gym, interactice whiteboards in every classroom, facilities for the disabled and brand new resources.

Caerphilly Council's bid to establish a total of three new primary schools was earlier rejected by the Education Secretary, Jane Davidson, on the basis that there had not been enough consultation.
